Heart Walk director stuck in Florida during Hurricane Milton
BRADENTON, Fla. (NEWS10) — Hurricane Milton made landfall near Siesta Key, Fla., as a Category 3 hurricane Wednesday night. It is expected to cause widespread destruction.
While many people evacuated earlier in the week, a Capital Region woman became stuck in Bradenton, Fla., after her flight was canceled. Bradenton is on Florida’s west coast between Tampa and Sarasota.
Kim Sheedy is the Heart Walk director for the American Heart Association, but this week, her work was bracing her father’s and aunt’s mobile homes for the storm and then hunkering down in her sister’s home.
NEWS10 spoke with her just two hours before the storm made landfall.
